Stu and Holly met because their dearest and most memorable college professor, Dr. Randy Cone, passed away.  Being that Stu and Holly were both Dr. Cone’s favorite students (only 5 ½ years between one another) they were naturally both there on Friday, July 12, 2002 to pay their respects at his memorial service that was held at UNO. 

The last thing on both of their minds that day was finding someone special, but things happen!  Stu first saw Holly when he turned around in his chair during the service while the crowd acknowledged a noteworthy professor that was sitting in the back.  Holly was leaving the reception and was on the way out the door when she noticed him.

Holly was talking to some of her old classmates, and Stu came up and joined in on their conversation.  They talked about what they were doing since college and Holly mistook Stu’s company GDS for GTS.  Stu gave out some business cards and Holly said she’d check on GDS.  More mingling went on and Stu heard Holly’s friend Jairo ask her to a 50th birthday surprise party. 

Throughout the reception, both Stu and Holly tried not to be noticed while giving one another glances.  When Holly walked to her car, she asked her friend Jairo if he knew anything about the guy from the reception with the “short name.”  Luckily Jairo knew Stu’s sister Kristie from a UNO sorority, and he thought that it might be Sigma Kappa (Holly’s sorority). 

So, when Holly got back to her office and found out that she had mistaken Stu’s company, she immediately took out his business card, and emailed saying that it was nice meeting him, she was sorry that she has mistook his company, and then asked him if his sister was once a Sigma Kappa.  Because it was now late on a Friday afternoon, Holly really didn’t expect a reply any time soon, if even at all. 

But, to her surprise, Stu responded back within the hour (he still didn’t have her number!).  He told her that if she didn’t want to attend that cheesy surprise party Saturday night, he had an “extra” ticket to a fundraiser where lots of men would be showing off their sexy legs for charity…

Holly then called Stu and agreed to the date.  Stu then went and got the “extra” ticket!  They went to the fundraiser, Holly met 100 of his friends in one hour and was so “engaging” that Stu just had to kiss her on the dance floor, and the rest is history.  So now you know.
